FSc Chemistry Book1, CH 10, LEC 14; Measurement of Electrode Potential

This video lecture from Electrochemistry (F.Sc. first year Chemistry) covers the methodology to measure the electrode potential. The standard hydrogen electrode is joined to the electrode under consideration, electrolytically establishing a galvanic cell. The two solutions are separated by a salt bridge. A voltmeter is attached in the external circuit which measures the potential difference between the two electrodes. Since SHE has an electrode potential of zero, the measured voltmeter reading is the standard reduction or oxidation potential of the electrode under consideration.
