FSc Chemistry Book2, CH 12, LEC 2: Nomenclature of Aldehydes and Ketones

This video lecture from Aldehydes and Ketones (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers the nomenclature of aldehydes and ketones. The aldehydes are named by replacing the corresponding name of alkane (-e replaced with –al) making alkanal. In ketones (-e is replaced with –one) making alkanone. The longest chain must contain the carbonyl group and the carbon of carbonyl group has to be counted while naming the corresponding alkane. In ketones, the location of carbonyl is specified by a number preceding the name of alkanone. Find more e-learning material and educational video lectures in Urdu at maktab.pk.
